The Concept of Time and MLM Success

Time is a concept that is both simple and complex. Time is simple because its passing is regular and constant. It is complex because the why and how of it remains a mystery. Some like to think of it as the fourth dimension, while others like to treat it like gold. Perhaps, both ideas are right. Although businesspeople will probably adhere to the latter idea, which states that “time is gold”.

Then, time is spent in different ways. Some people like to follow a fixed schedule, equating time to the number of goals they can achieve in one day, in one week, in one month, in one year, and even in one lifetime. Other people like to spend time without schedules and believe in the saying “carpe diem”. Again, perhaps both ideas are right.

However, the majority of the people spend time in this way. First, they exist in the present. But second, they kept on thinking of the past. And third, they will always hope for a better tomorrow. While there is nothing wrong with this concept and usage of time, many people go into illogical extremes. That is, some people live only for today. Others cannot escape their past. And still others think only of the future and forget the present and the past.

This concept of time, when applied to the MLM business, definitely hampers any form of success. Some home business owners become too reluctant because of past experiences. Other businesspeople care only for the client who is here and now, and forgetting the rest. And still other businesspeople don’t take into consideration the conditions of the past and present, as long as they follow their visualization of the future.

To be successful in MLM, a person must hold the three phases of time in a state of balance. He must think about the past to learn from it. He must make plans to live a good life in the future. And he must develop his abilities, skills, and character while he is experiencing the present. To do this, the person must face and honestly answer the following questions:

  • When does the active business efforts belong? Is it for the past, for the present, or for the future?
  • Do the past events and past mistakes hinder or prevent any business expansion? That instead of learning lessons from the past, one is heavily influenced by the idea that what happened in the past will certainly happen again.
  • How long does it take to wait for that perfect MLM recruit who will boost the business? Apparently, the waiting will make the time longer. This means that the businessman conducting an MLM business must not wait for manna to fall from the heavens. He should take action.
  • Is the present time well spent?

To achieve that success while using the MLM program, a person must shift his concept of time. That is, he must learn from the past, plan for the future, and live the present to the fullest.
