Are you an Entrepreneur?

The desire to work at home, be your own boss and start your home business there, this doesn’t mean that you are ready or right for starting a home business. More factors than want will effect the outcome of a home business. You want to make sure that you posses these characteristics so your business venture will be a success.

Success isn’t guaranteed in starting a small home business, you must make sure you have what is needed and get rid of any risk that can be dealt with. Planning is the key to this. You really need to sit back and ask yourself questions as to how you will run the business and if you have what it takes to make it a success.

• Do you have the qualities of a self-starter?
  When stating and running a business, you will be responsible for all activities within your company. The freedom of not having a boss means you have to be able to take control. Time management is very important to complete all tasks. Make sure you are able to manage your time; if you need help in this area, make sure to get it before you start your company. You will need to track hundreds of items going on in your company at any time. You will need to not only track the production work for your product or service, but also the background administration tasks needed to keep a home business afloat.
• Do you get along with others?
  Home businesses gain revenue from clients. To get clients you will need to network with many individuals. You will find out that selling your product or service will take a little more work than expected. Even if you have the best product or service in the world, you will still have to sell it to the general public. You need to be able to take no as an answer, not get hurt over it, and allow yourself to move on to the next prospect without any hurt feelings.

  Home businesses also require working with other individuals. I know, you are saying, “I got in this so I didn’t have to work with others anymore”, that just isn’t the case. A home business, like any small business, will only succeed and grow if it has interaction with other businesses, clients and prospects.

• Are you a decision maker?
  Running a business means making decisions. These decisions may not always be easy at times. You need to have the skills to prioritize your business decisions, sifting through the advantages and disadvantages. There will be pressure involved with many of these decisions, so quick thinking under pressure is a must.
• Do you have the drive?
  Do you really have the drive and stamina to start and grow a home business? You can be assured that a home business will not only take a lot of time to develop, but there will be setbacks. Having the drive to push through adversity and create opportunities is the test of a real entrepreneur. The stress of running a home business can be great, both emotionally and physically. Taking these aspects in stride will be the only way to deal with them.
